A fantastic original German military women’s camouflage jacket which dates from the latter part of the Second World War. This jacket was produced during the last couple of years of WW2, most likely for a lady serving with an anti aircraft unit or similar. The jacket is made from splittermuster 31 camouflage fabric which was most likely originally made into a zeltbahn tent quarter at the factory, before being disassembled and remade into this jacket by a tailor. This classic German camouflage is often referred to as ‘Splinter Pattern’ today by collectors. The jacket is cut with a typical 1940s silhouette. It is short in the body and features a nipped waist and accentuated shoulders. The Polish collar is also typical of the area and there is a yoke across the shoulders and straps fitted to each cuff. Patch pockets are fitted to the front of the skirt which are open topped and feature faux flaps, complete with button and buttonhole. All of the buttons are covered with the same splinter pattern material as used for the body of the jacket. The interior of the jacket features a small piece of black coloured elastic which forms a half belt. There are no stamps, markings or labels as this is a privately tailored item. When laid flat the jacket measures – Chest – 19′ Waist – 17 1/2′ Inside arm – 14 1/2′ Outside arm – 22′ Shoulders – 13 3/4′ Length at rear – 25′ The jacket is in food condition for its age with no real signs of wear or use. The outside is potentially slightly sun faded as the interior seems to be brighter, but this could be to do with the camouflage print. There is a button missing from the left sleeve but on the whole it is in excellent condition and is still totally wearable. A very nice original jacket from the late WW2 period which is made from a classic camouflage.
