Original 1990 Dated RAF MK3 Cold Weather Flying Jacket – Size 5 in RAF flying jackets & coats
€173.27
An original Royal Air Force MK3 Cold Weather Flying jacket made by ‘M L Lifeguard Equipment Ltd’ in 1990. This pattern of jacket was introduced into service with the RAF in the 1960s and stayed in issue for decades. This example is a more recent manufactured jacket but retains many of the same details as the original jacket. It is made from a ventile cotton which was popular with the RAF for many years due to its very good waterproof and windproof qualities. Metal zippers are fitted throughout and the cuffs fasten with velcro. A pen pocket is located to the upper left sleeve and a drawstring is located to the bottom seam. Between the outer layer and the lining is a mess liner which is intended to keep the wearer at a good temperature. There is also a hood concealed inside the jacket which pulls out through the back of the neck and there is a large fishtail inside the jacket which is held in place with velcro. Inside the jacket the original label is still present and bears details pertaining to size as well as washing instructions. The date is marked in ink as 1190 which denotes November 1990 as the year of production. The jacket is a size 5 and when laid flat it measures – Chest – 24 1/2′ Inside arm – 21′ Outside arm – 22 1/2′ Shoulders – 19′ Length – 23′ The jacket is in good condition with some signs of wear and use. There is a repair to the rear panel (picture 11) and a small tear to the rear of the left sleeve (picture 12). Overall it is still very wearable and has plenty of life left in it. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-owned jacket with some small issues commensurate with age. A nice example of this classic RAF flying jacket.
