Original 1944 Dated British Army Denim Battledress Trousers – Size 6 in Trousers & shorts
€438.95
An original pair of British Army Denim Battledress Trousers dated 1944 which are a size No. 6. This pattern of trousers came into issue with the British Army during the Second World War and remained standard issue well into the 1950s. Thesy were used for fatigues and are made from a green coloured denim sanforized cotton, typical of that used for workwear in the mid century period. Based on the serge battledress design, these trousers feature a map pocket to the left leg, a first field dressing pocket to the right hip and slash pockets in the usual place in each side seam and no through pockets as seen on post-war examples. They are cut with a high rise and wide leg as were all men’s clothes during this period. This particular pair still retains their original manufacturer’s label to the exterior of the seat. It bears the title of ‘Overalls Trousers, Denim’ and states the size as No. 6 which is designed to fit someone with a 34-35′ waist. The maker’s name of ‘N. N. Taylor & Co Ltd’ is also present as is the War Department broad arrow marking and the 1944 date. It is important to remember that these are designed to fit over the wool battledress trousers so need to be worn oversize for an authentic fit. When laid flat they measure – Waist – 17′ Rise – 15 1/2′ Rear rise – 17 1/2′ Inside leg – 29 1/2′ Outside leg – 43′ Cuff – 9 1/2′ The trousers are in good condition for their age with some signs of wear and use. There is some staining but overall they display very well. Please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that these are a pre-worn pair of 1940s work trousers which may have other small issues consummate with their vintage. A hard to find war dated pair of denim trousers which are in great condition.
