An original pair of British made black leather ankle boots which are dated 1943 and are in excellent, unworn condition. A number of organisations used black leather boots with no toe cap during the Second World War including the Police and the Home Guard. These boots were most likely produced for the latter. The boots are made from a black coloured leather which features a pebbled finish to the exterior and 7 metal eyelets. The soles and heels are also leather which is typical of the period. Inside the boots the insoles are marked with the maker’s name of ‘John White’ who was a prolific maker of footwear for the military as well as civilian bodies during the 1940s. The 1943 is also present as is the size of 10. The size is also marked to the sole at the instep. The boots are in excellent condition as can be seen in the pictures. They appear to have never been worn or used and would be very hard to improve on. A rare pair of wartime boots which are a must have for the serious Home Front collector.
