Original 1942 Dated American M1942 Mackinaw Jacket – Size 38 in General jackets & coats
€173.27
An original WW2 US Army M1942 Mackinaw Jacket which is a size 38 and was made in 1942. This pattern of jacket was introduced to replace the earlier M1938 mackinaw which was made in duck cotton and featured a wool blanket lining to the collar. This iteration was made from poplin cotton which was easier to wear than its predecessor and the blanket lining was deleted. It was replaced by the M1943 pattern which featured a notched collar and all mackinaws were deleted from issue in 1945 and replaced with the M43. The coat features a double breasted front and a large collar which features a throat latch to the rear. Flapped pockets are located to the front of the skirt and each cuff features an adjuster tab which fastens with a button. Inside the coat there is a hanging loop to the neck and the coat is lined with olive green coloured wool blanket material. The original label is present inside one of the front pockets and whilst heavily worn, the 1942 date can still be made out – as can the size of 38. Inside one of the main pockets The coat will suit a 38′ – 40′ depending on desired fit and when laid flat it measures – Chest – 22 1/2′ Inside arm – 18′ Outside arm – 26′ Shoulders – 17 1/2′ Length – 33 1/2′ The coat is in well worn condition with only signs of wear and age. There are repairs and wear to the collar and cuffs and both cuffs have had a button removed from each. There is also staining etc which is illustrated in the pictures. The flaws have been reflected in the price of what is on the whole a good, honest wartime example. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age. An original Second World War coat with a great ‘been there’ look to it.
