Original 1940s Leather Sporran by ‘R W Forsyth’ in General

98.19

An original leather sporran which was made by ‘R W Forsyth’ around the time of the Second World War. This type of sporran was worn by both civilians and in the military when wearing a kilt. It is a classic design and is made of leather. The front flap features three leather tassels and the original strap is present and features a section of leather as well as two metal chains. The maker’s name of ‘R W Forsyth’ of Glasgow, Edinburgh and London is present to the rear. This company was a prolific supplier of clothing to those serving in the Armed Forces during this period and the style of markings are those used by this company during the 1940s. The sporran is in good condition with only limited signs of wear and age. Overall it displays very well but please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age. A nice original example with a good maker’s name which comes complete with its strap.
