240.00

Commander-grade order with its original cravat. Beautiful silver star adorned with 10 red and green enamelled branches. At its center, a green enamel monogram of Muhammad al-Nasir (1906-1922). The Order of Nichan Iftikhar is a Tunisian honorary distinction created in 1835 by Hussein II Bey. During the French Protectorate of Tunisia (1881-1956), this order remained in existence and was widely used to reward both Tunisians and French citizens, as well as other foreigners who contributed to the country’s development and administration under French rule. The distinctions were awarded by the Bey of Tunis, but under the supervision of French authorities, particularly the Resident General of France in Tunisia. The order was granted to colonial administration officials, including officers, senior French and Tunisian officials, and influential personalities. It recognized exceptional services rendered to Tunisia in various fields, such as administration, military, trade, culture, and diplomacy. Many French officials stationed in Tunisia received this decoration, reinforcing its role as a symbol of prestige and recognition within the framework of the Protectorate.
