An original United States Military M1947 Herringbone Twill Fatige jacket which is in deadstock condition. This pattern of jacket were introduced in the immediate post WW2 period and is made from a olive green coloured HBT material of the same type that was used during the Second World War. The shirt is a simple, utilitarian design which features a single breasted front and plain patch pockets to the chest. The left breast pocket features an internal pen pocket as illustrated in picture 5. All of the buttons are metal donut ’13 Star’ style examples as were used on US Army clothing during this period. Inside the jacket the original issue stamp is still bright and legible. It bears the title of ‘Jacket Herringbone Twill O.D.7′ along with the 1947 contract date and the 1947 pattern date. The jacket will suit up to a 40′ waist and when laid flat they measures – Chest – 22! Inside arm – 22′ Outside arm – 24′ Shoulders – 19 1/4′ Length at rear – 29’ The jacket is in excellent condition with no signs of previous wear or use. It could be described as ‘deadstock’ or ‘unworn’ and display extremely well. There are a couple of very light rust marks which are illustrated in the pictures and only notable under close scrutiny. It is a vintage, pre-owned shirt which may have small flaws commensurate with age so please take time to study the pictures before purchasing. A fantastic example of this pattern of jacket which is in fine condition.
