Medal group consisting 1939-45 star , Italy star , Defence Medal and War medal . Complete with his condolence slip named to ‘ 2717734 Gdsm William J Abernethy ‘ . Issue box naming removed . William james Abernethy was a pre war Soldier joining in 1933 . Evacuated from Dunkirk showing great Gallantry and wounded . In 1942 he was sentenced to 4 months hard labour for going AWOL and theft of clothing. Died 6th May 1944 and buired at Brookwood Cemetary . Worthy of further research .
