Medals named to 7130 Cpl R Ware of the 5th Lancers. his war are stamped R Ware ( Reginald ) on his jublilee medal is stamped H.R Ware ( Horrace Reginald ) The M.I.D is for the retreat from Mons in 1914 and his MM is for 1916. The total Military Medals to the 5th Lancers was 31. A scare MM Cavalry group. After leaving the Army he joined the police, and he recvid the 1935 Corrination Medal as a police sergeant. The 5th Lancers were raised in 1689. In WW1 they were the last cavalry to withdraw from Mons in 1914 to cover the retreat. and they were the 1st cavalrly Regiment to enter Mons in 1918 when the Germans were retreating. In 1922 they almalgamated with 16th Lancers. To become the 16th/5th Lancers. ( When reading the naming on the individual medals, ignore the ribbons in the background as they got in the way when taking the picctures. The pictures appear in the correct order as the medals are mounted.)
