An original Indian made British Jungle Green Bush Jacket which was made in 1945. The shirt is made from a vat dyed, green coloured cellular cotton which is often referred to as ‘Aertex’. It is a lightweight, breathable fabric ideally suited to the tropics and was popular with the British military during WW2. Like so much clothing supplied to the Far East, this shirt was manufactured in India. It features the typical Indian buttons, stitching and stamps found on wartime items. The maker’s stamp is clearly visible inside the shirt and bears the numbers ’45’ which denotes the year of manufacture as 1945. The shirt is a small size which will fit around a 36′ chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures – Chest – 20” Waist – 17 1/2′ Inside arm – 20 1/2” Outside arm – 23” Shoulders – 14 3/4” Length at back – 27 1/2” The shirt is in very good condition as can be seen in the pictures. There are no real signs of previous wear or laundering and all the original buttons are intact, save for one of the high sleeve buttons as illustrated in the pictures. One of the front buttons is also a period replacement which is very maginally larger than the others. please take time to stud the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage item which may have small issues commensurate with age. All in all this an excellent example of this pattern of shirt complete with a nice clear date. A must have for the serious collector!
